3 Trends that Will Drive Your Sales this Holiday Season

The holiday season is often one of the busiest times for retail stores of the whole year. In fact, many companies see a strong increase in sales during the holiday shopping period. However, even though a high percentage of stores may see a natural increase in sales during this time, taking advantage of three trends may help drive sales even higher during the holiday season. Here are three trends that can be taken advantage of to increase holiday sales this year.

1. Mobile Shopping

In 2014, roughly 33 percent of all holiday sales occurred on mobile devices. That is a very significant number, and it is actually likely to be even higher for 2016. Retailers can take advantage of this trend by making sure that their websites are compatible with mobile devices, and making sure that they have a wide range of products available to be purchased on mobile devices.

2. High Website Traffic

During the holiday sales period, standard websites can get an unprecedented amount of traffic. This means that companies need to make sure that their websites are optimized for security and efficiency, and can adequately handle large increases in traffic.

If they are not, then too many page loads in a short period of time could actually cause the website to crash. A crashed website on a key shopping day such as Black Friday or Cyber Monday would be a disaster for many companies. So, businesses should make the necessary preparations to make sure that their websites can handle additional traffic.

3. Pop-Up Stores

Pop-up stores are another growing trend. A pop-up store is a small booth or kiosk-type store that is placed in a location with high foot traffic. These types of stores are great for companies who do most of their sales online, but who want to make more in-person sales during the holiday season.

A pop-up store can be placed in a mall, or at another retail location where there are sure to be plenty of people walking around. In 2015, the pop-up store industry grew by 8.4 percent. This means that if your business can capitalize on this growing trend, you may be able to increase your holiday shopping sales figures this year.
